Rolling bearing overheating is not an accident, but is caused by the joint action of multiple factors. After a lot of practical observations and technical analysis, we have summarized the following main reasons. Poor lubrication is one of the common causes of overheating of rolling bearings. Lubrication is as important to rolling bearings as blood is to the human body. When the lubricant is not selected properly, such as the viscosity of the lubricant does not meet the working conditions of the bearing, an effective oil film cannot be formed on the friction surface of the bearing, resulting in increased friction and excessive heat. In addition, the insufficient amount of lubricant is used to prevent sufficient coverage of the friction surface, or the lubricant ages, deteriorates due to long-term use, and loses lubricating performance, which will cause the bearing to increase the temperature due to frictional heat generation during operation. Improper installation can easily cause overheating of the rolling bearing. When installing bearings, if the installation position is inaccurate, there is eccentricity, inclination, etc. between the bearing and the shaft or bearing seat, which will cause additional torque to occur during operation, resulting in excessive local stress, intensified friction, and thus overheating. At the same time, the uneven or excessive force applied during installation may cause deformation of the inner and outer rings of the bearing and damage to the raceway, destroying the normal structure of the bearing, affecting its operating accuracy, increasing friction loss, and generating a large amount of heat. The quality problems of the bearing itself are also an important factor in overheating. If the material selection is improper during the manufacturing process, such as the strength, wear resistance and other properties of the steel used do not meet the requirements, or there are defects in the processing process, such as the unqualified roughness of the raceway surface, the large geometric shape error of the raceway and rollers, it will increase the friction resistance of the bearing during operation, generating excessive heat. Moreover, poor quality bearings often have short service life and are prone to early failure during use, further aggravating the overheating phenomenon. The working environment of the equipment will also affect the temperature of the rolling bearings. When the equipment is working in a high temperature environment, the heat from the surrounding environment will be continuously transferred to the bearing, causing the bearing temperature to rise. At the same time, if there are a large amount of dust, impurities and other pollutants in the working environment, these pollutants will enter the inside of the bearing, aggravating the wear and friction of the bearing, causing the bearing to overheat. In addition, if the equipment is subjected to excessive load during operation, exceeding the rated bearing capacity of the bearing, it will also intensify the friction of the bearing and increase the temperature.
